STAFF at a Little Sutton salon launched their business in style this week with a 36-hour hair and beauty charity marathon.
Workers at Planet Hair and Beauty, Station Road, tackled the impressive undertaking in a bid to raise funds for the Countess of Chester Hospital’s breast care unit.
The fundraising began at 8.30am last Wednesday – and the beauty treatments continued non-stop until 8.30pm the following day.
“It was fantastic – it went really well,” said owner Leanne Bevan.
“We had people coming in till about 12am and it went a bit quiet between 12 and three – but it picked up again afterwards.
“It was tiring – I’ve got a little girl, so she had me up at 6am after I’d finished working at three. But we managed to soldier on through.”
Customers could choose from a cut and blow dry, nail file and polish or hand and arm massage in return for a £5 donation.
A percentage of the profits from full-price treatments also went to the breast care unit fund.
Staff worked shifts – swapping over at 3am in the early hours of Thursday – and raised £555 for the cause.
“I’ve volunteered at fundraising events for the breast care unit in the past and we really wanted to help out a local charity,” said Leanne.
“Everybody knows somebody who’s been affected by breast cancer.”
Planet Hair and Beauty opened its doors in December, but officially launched on Thursday, with staff and customers enjoying a party after the fundraising feat.
