HEALTH care technology firm MSoft is in discussions with a number of health trusts which would allow them to track the supply of blood to patients via an innovative new method.
MSoft claims the company’s latest innovation, which uses the Apple iPad, will boost the speed and efficiency with which hospital staff will be able to get the right blood into the right patient.
Up until now, staff have used more traditional handheld devices, often with a stylus pen, or a computer on wheels.
MSoft, based in Ellesmere Port, will be providing a demonstration of the iPad blood tracking technology at the British Blood Transfusion Society’s annual conference in Bournemouth between September 9-11.
Matt McAlister, MSoft’s managing director, said: “We are the only blood tracking specialist whose technology is fully compatible with the Apple iPad and during recent weeks we have been talking to a number of NHS Trusts about the possibility of introducing iPads on to wards.
“In a short space of time, the iPad has become a must have device for both domestic and commercial users and with rumours of an iPad mini being launched in time for Christmas, demand is only likely to increase.”
