SPORTS stars are urging friends and relatives to nominate children for an award.
Charity Cancer Research UK is looking for child cancer survivors as part of its Little Star Awards.
Cancer Research UK regional spokeswoman Jane Bullock said: “The Little Star Awards allow us to recognise the unique challenges faced by youngsters diagnosed with cancer and salute their courage.”
The awards are in partnership with retailer TK Maxx and winners will receive a £50 TK Maxx gift card, a trophy and a certificate signed by a host of stars from the worlds of TV, music and sport.
TK Maxx UK and Ireland managing director Susanne Given said: “The Little Star Awards are a fantastic way of recognising the courage of children who have faced a diagnosis of cancer and the support they receive from families and friends.
“We’ve supported the charity since 2004 and are pleased to be supporting the Little Star Awards again this year.”
Olympic champion and 100-metre world record holder Usain Bolt said: “Each and every one of the children who is nominated for the award is special.
“They are the true champions.”
To nominate, email littlestar@cancer.org.uk or visit www.cancerresearchuk.org/littlestar by February 28. The awards are open to all under 18s who have cancer or have been treated for the disease in the last five years.
