First announces major boost for passengers using Service 1 between Liverpool, Ellesmere Port and Chester

A BUS operator has announced a major boost to one of its popular services which runs between Liverpool, Ellesmere Port and Chester.

First’s service 1 is now running every 10 minutes on Monday to Saturday for most of the day.

This doubles the service’s existing 20 minute rate.

First commercial director Paul De Santis said: “We are very pleased to be announcing this enhancement to Service 1, which represents a major investment.

“We have been working hard recently with partners from Cheshire West and Chester Council, the Highways Agency and businesses at Cheshire Oaks.

“We have been working to heighten awareness of the service as an alternative to using cars to visit or work at Cheshire Oaks in particular.

“This doubling of the service frequency will give a major boost to those efforts.

“And we feel it will also give a ‘turn up and go’ style service to a large section of the route.”

Mr De Santis added: “We have also used this opportunity to reflect some of the findings of our joint research into users’ requirements.

“As a result of this, a number of journeys are being altered to cater better for passengers, in particular for the workers at Cheshire Oaks.

“This move followed the feedback we had received.”
