Contractors walk out of Shell’s Stanlow oil refinery in Ellesmere Port

ABOUT 450 contractors at Shell’s Stanlow oil refinery have walked out in what is believed to be a show of solidarity for workers sacked in North Lincolnshire.

Shell say the unofficial action will not affect production at the complex in Oil Sites Road, Ellesmere Port.

Almost 650 contractors at Lindsey oil refinery were sacked by Total yesterday following unofficial strike action.

A Shell spokesperson said: “We can confirm that today about 450 maintenance and construction contract staff have taken unofficial action.

“Despite this action, the site continues to operate normally.”
