BiG Storage Cheshire Jets star James Hamilton opens new Hospice of the Good Shepherd store in Ellesmere Port
A NEW charity shop in Ellesmere Port has been officially opened by basketball star James Hamilton.
The BiG Storage Cheshire Jets captain cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd store in Overpool Road.
A delighted Hamilton said he was honoured to be invited by the hospice.
“It means a lot to me personally. It just shows everything about what our team is about, we want to give back to the community”, he said.
Promotions and retail manager Honora Crisp said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to open up the shop. It’s our fifth shop and they are absolutely vital for raising funds for the hospice.
“The stock you see in the shop is all donated by the local community. There is something for everyone.
“If you want to volunteer your time it’s a fantastic way to support us. Come down on Friday, April 24 between 10am and 4pm and come and have a chat with us.”
The hospice, which is based in Backford and provides specialist palliative and respite care for people suffering from life-threatening illness in Ellesmere Port and Chester, needs more than £6,000 every day to operate.
All services at the hospice are provided free of charge to anyone in medical need.
The opening of the new store comes after the recent launch of a new furniture showroom at the hospice’s Lottery headquarters in Chester Road, Whitby.
